1. Raw material preparation
The production of tinplate coils starts with high-quality raw materials-thin steel sheets. These steel sheets are usually made of carbon steel and need to have good ductility and machinability. The selection of raw materials is crucial to the performance of the final product.
2. Cleaning and pickling
Before entering the production line, the steel sheet needs to undergo rigorous cleaning and pickling treatment to remove grease, rust and oxide scale on the surface. This step ensures that the tin coating can be evenly attached to the surface of the steel sheet.
3. Cold rolling and annealing
The cleaned steel sheet enters the cold rolling mill, where the thickness of the steel sheet is thinned by pressure while improving its internal structure. The cold-rolled steel sheet needs to be annealed to restore its ductility and machinability while reducing the internal stress generated during the cold rolling process.
4. Flattening and electroplating
The annealed steel sheet is flattened to ensure that its surface is flat and the thickness is uniform. Subsequently, the steel sheet enters the electroplating process, where a uniform layer of tin is plated on the surface of the steel sheet through electrolysis. This step is the key to tinplate production, because the thickness and uniformity of the tin layer directly affect the corrosion resistance and sealing performance of the product.
5. Passivation treatment
The electroplated tinplate needs to be passivated to enhance its corrosion resistance. Passivation treatment usually involves immersing the tinplate in a solution containing specific chemical components to form a protective film to prevent the tin layer from oxidizing.
6. Oiling and shearing
The passivated tinplate is coated with a layer of DOS oil to provide additional protection and lubrication. This step helps to reduce friction and wear during subsequent processing. Finally, the tinplate coil is sheared according to customer needs to obtain the required size and shape.
7. Quality control
Quality control is an indispensable part of the entire production process. From the inspection of raw materials to the testing of the final product, each link requires strict quality monitoring to ensure the performance and safety of the tinplate coil.
8. Packaging and storage
Qualified tinplate rolls will be properly packaged to prevent damage during transportation and storage. The packaging materials need to be able to resist moisture and corrosion to ensure that the tinplate rolls remain in the best condition before reaching the end user.
The production process of tinplate rolls is a complex process, and every link is crucial from the preparation of raw materials to the packaging of the final product. It is these fine process steps that enable tinplate rolls to meet the needs of different applications, providing high strength, good formability and excellent corrosion resistance. With the advancement of technology and changes in market demand, the production process of tinplate rolls is also being continuously optimized to adapt to a wider range of applications and stricter environmental protection requirements.
